Municipal Court

Nelson Monteiro began his career as a solo practitioner in 1986 and subsequently joined the firm of LaCorte, Bundy, Varady & DiGioia as a partner.  The firm was a high volume full service legal practice with an emphasis on personal injury cases.

Mr. Monteiro developed a specialty in Municipal Court practice having served as a Municipal Prosecutor in the City of Elizabeth for two years and subsequently as a Municipal Court Judge in the cities of Elizabeth and Hillside where he served for approximately fourteen years.  At the time of his appointment to the bench, Mr. Monteiro, once again, resumed his legal career as a solo practitioner serving his multi-ethnic clientele in a high volume general practice.  Mr. Monteiro is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.

Mr. Monteiro also volunteers for the Union County Superior Court as a Matrimonial Early Settlement Panelist in assisting litigants in resolving their marital issues.
