From Routes 1 & 9 Southbound:
  • Take Routes 1 & 9 South past Newark Airport into Elizabeth.
  • In downtown Elizabeth, Routes 1 & 9 descend a ramp and become a level roadway. Do not use this ramp, but instead use the far right lane which descends below ground level.
  • Take this road to the end (approximately 1 block) then turn right onto Elizabeth Avenue Court House is straight ahead, at the junction of Elizabeth Avenue and Broad Street

From Routes 1 & 9 Northbound:

  • Take Routes 1 & 9 North to Bayway Traffic Circle.
  • Turn right onto Bayway Avenue (route 439, exit for Goethals Bridge).
  • From Bayway Avenue, turn left onto S. Broad Street (2 blocks from the circle). Court House is approximately 1 mile down on the left, at the corner of Broad Street and Rahway Avenue.
From N.J. Turnpike
  • Use Exit 13 and follow the signs for Route 439 (Bayway Avenue).
  • From Bayway Avenue, turn right onto S. Broad Street (approximately one-half mile from the Turnpike).
  • Court House is approximately 1 mile down on the left, at the corner of Broad Street and Rahway Avenue.

From Garden State Parkway

  • Take Exit 140A (Route 82, Elizabeth; Route 82 is also called Morris Avenue).
  • Take Morris Avenue to the end.
  • Turn left onto Julian Pl., then turn right after 1 short block onto Broad Street.
  • The courthouse is 4 blocks down on the right, at the corner of Broad Street and Rahway Avenue.

From Route 22

  • Take exit for Route 82, Elizabeth. Route 82 is also called Morris Avenue.
  • Take Morris Avenue to the end. Bear right under the railroad bridge where Morris Avenue merges onto Broad Street Court House is 4 blocks down on the right, at the corner of Broad Street and Rahway Avenue.
Parking for Union County Court House

Metered street parking is scarce in the area. The nearest public lot is at the corner of Dickinson Street and Jefferson Avenue. There are also several lots in the vicinity of the train station, the closest being along W. Jersey Street.
