Effective December 1, 2019, victims of sexual abuse will have more time to file claims against their abusers. The new law creates a 2-year window for a victim of childhood sexual abuse to file a lawsuit for previously time-barred actions. In other words, if the 2-year Statute of Limitations has already expired, as of December 1, 2019, victims will now have 2 years to file a lawsuit.
Partners Eric G. Kahn and Rubin M. Sinins have handled hundreds of these types of cases. “Whether it is the Boy Scouts, the Church, youth sports organization, group homes, private or public school, justice that has been delayed for years or decades can now be achieved for victims of childhood sexual abuse”, states Kahn. “Victims will now be compensated and violators will be held accountable”, added Sinins.
