Louis Acevedo
Associate Attorney
Louis Acevedo has been practicing law in the State of New Jersey for 38 years, and is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York, before the United States Supreme Court and Federal District Courts in New Jersey and Southern District of New York. He has represented clients in criminal matters involving ranging from simple assaults and drug charges to criminal homicides. Mr. Acevedo has also represented clients civil, family and administrative courts.
During Mr. Acevedo’s years of practice, he served as a managing attorney for over two decades for a government entity in New Jersey, where he was responsible for the recruitment, screening, hiring and teaching newly employed attorneys in best practices, professionalism and all aspects of litigation. Mr. Acevedo was also responsible for meet with the Judiciary and other criminal justice stakeholders concerning matters of criminal practice and procedure. He has served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committees on Minority Concerns and Criminal Practice Committee, has been a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Bergen County Bar Association and served as President, President-Elect, Vice President, Membership Secretary and Recording Secretary of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey. He has also been awarded numerous Legislative Proclamations and Awards for leadership, community service and promotion of diversity. Additionally, Mr. Acevedo was an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University School of Law, where he taught Fourth Amendment United States Constitution Law.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Mr. Acevedo served in the United States Army, attended Lehman College and attained a B.A. in psychology with a minor in criminal justice and social control from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. He attained his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. Mr. Acevedo is fluent in Spanish.
