Mr. Galpern graduated Rutgers University in New Brunswick New Jersey 1985 with a BA in Philosophy and Political Science, and graduated from Rutgers Law School – Camden New Jersey in 1988.
After Law School, Mr. Galpern obtained a sought after position as Law Clerk to the Honorable Jerome B. Simandle,United States District Court from 1988–89.
From 1989 to 2018, Mr. Galpern worked at the Locks Law firm, first as an associate, later partner and then managing partner of the New Jersey office.
From 1998-2006, Mr. Galpern also served as an Adjunct Professor of law, Rutgers Law School – Camden, NJ. Mr. Galpern is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has been certified and recertified as a civil trial attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court. He has held every position including President at the New Jersey Association for Justice, an organization of over 2000 lawyers dedicated to protecting consumers and injured parties. www.NJ-Justice.org.
Mr. Galpern has held various officer positions including President at the Workers Injury Law and Advocacy Group, www.WILG.org, a national organization dedicated to representing the interest of millions of workers and their families who suffer from injuries and workplace injustice. Mr. Galpern has also earned a spot as a National Board of Governor in the American Association of Justice, a national organization dedicated to promoting a fair and effective justice system, and to ensuring that any person who is injured or killed by the misconduct of others can obtain justice in America’s courtrooms www.justice.org.
Mr. Galpern has tried over 50 jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations in his career. He has obtained the first settlement in the state of New Jersey on behalf of a medical malpractice victim against an HMO, Yancheck v. HIP of New Jersey. Mr. Galpern was lead trial counsel in a seven-week jury trial that produced the largest Fair Labor Standards Act verdict (FLSA) against a retailer in the state of New Jersey, Stillman v. Staples. Mr. Galpern was later appointed as co-lead counsel in In Re Staples, a consolidation of pending FLSA Actions nationwide, and managed to bring them to a successful resolution.
Mr. Galpern has been appointed as the lead counsel, co-lead counsel, and/or a member of the Plaintiffs Steering Committee (PSC) or Plaintiffs Executive Committee (PEC), in numerous mass torts or class actions across the United States. Mr. Galpern has handled numerous cases with far reaching legal consequences in the New Jersey Supreme Court and in the New Jersey Appellate Division, including Kiss v. Jacob, a landmark ruling of the New Jersey Supreme Court establishing allocation of damages in multi defendant cases, and Laidlow v. Hariton Machinery, 170 NJ 602 (2002), another landmark ruling of the New Jersey Supreme Court expanding the rights of an injured worker to bring a third party action against his employer.
Mr. Galpern has handled complex litigation in products liability, toxic torts, class actions, employment discrimination nursing home and medical malpractice. Mr. Galpern has been an invited lecturer on over 100 occasions to various legal groups across United States and abroad.
