November 20, 2020, Springfield, NJ – Jeffrey A. Rizika, Esq., Partner in Javerbaum Wurgaft Hicks Kahn Wikstrom & Sinins, PC, recently settled a motor vehicle accident lawsuit for $600,000 on behalf of his client.
The accident occurred the morning of March 1, 2017 on Port Imperial Boulevard, Weehawken, NJ. Plaintiff was on his way to work when he was struck from behind while stopped at a red light by a Tanker Truck.
In addition to negligence counts against the driver, Plaintiff claimed the company was negligent in the hiring and continued employment of the driver in that it knew, or should have known, that driver was unfit to drive a commercial Tanker Truck. The driver’s abstract would have shown numerous prior suspensions of his commercial driving privileges, prior instances of operating a commercial vehicle without medical clearance, numerous prior moving violations and accidents.
Plaintiff suffered injuries to his spine and knees, as well as post-concussion syndrome.
The case settled after arbitration, but before a court trial was scheduled.
