Javerbaum Wurgaft Partner Francisco J. Rodriguez, who focuses on medical malpractice and nursing home cases, was quoted in a Politico article discussing the U.S. Department of Justice’s investigation into the conditions and management of state-run veterans homes. The article is entitled “DOJ’s Veterans Homes Report Shows How Authorities Stepped In, and Democrats Stepped Back.”
In the article, Mr. Rodriguez emphasized the need for healthcare professionals to lead state-run veterans homes and called for state action to improve conditions to meet legal standards and care for residents.
He stated, “It’s certainly my hope and the hope of my clients that the state reads this report and comes up with a plan immediately to come into compliance to protect residents’ civil rights and their health. They must do so.”
Mr. Rodriguez represented 44 clients whose family members died in these state-run veterans home achieving a settlement of $63 million, one of the largest recoveries ever obtained against the State of New Jersey.
