A lawsuit alleging discrimination and retaliation was filed against Rutgers University, Rutgers-Newark School of Law, and various faculty members for the creation of a hostile environment and retaliation against Yoel Ackerman, a Jewish law student, after he complained about the circulation of anti-Semitic propaganda.
Ackerman complained to Rutgers officials after an anti-Semitic video was posted denying the October 7 massacre committed against Jews in Israel. After Ackerman opposed the dissemination of the video, Rutgers took no action to protect him or remediate the hostile environment and instead painted Ackerman as the bully, and not the victim of harassment, intimidation and bullying.
Ackerman is an Orthodox Jew who wears a yarmulke and fears for his safety.
